BCA Department organised Community Outreach Program – Visit to Karnataka Snehajeevi Ashrama, on 25th April 2025.

  • A delegation of students and faculty visited Karnataka Snehajeevi Ashrama, home to elderly and patient residents.
  • The group served meals to the residents and spent quality time interacting with them, promoting a sense of community and compassion.
  • Students performed a dance segment, which brought smiles and joy to the residents. Many residents enthusiastically participated, showcasing their spirit and enthusiasm despite physical limitations.
  • Residents shared their life stories, highlighting their struggles before joining the ashrama. They expressed deep gratitude towards Mr. Hemanth Kannadiga, whom they consider a guardian angel. His selfless service and care have made a significant impact on their lives.

Awareness and Prevention of Sexual Harassment

QAC and Women Grievance & Sexual Harassment Cell of AIMS, conducted a Seminar on “Awareness and Prevention of Sexual Harassment” on 17th April, 2025 for UG and MBA First Year Students.

Resource Person: Mrs. Suja Sukumaran, Liaison Officer- Enfold Trust, Worked for UNICEF Projects, Women and Child Department. imparts Awareness Training for POSH, POCSO, Child Rights and Life skills. She has worked as a Court appointed Volunteer in an Organisation called Voices for Children, California for Juveniles for conflicts with law in San Diego, California and also worked as Media Correspondent in the US.

Highlights:
The Session was conducted with the primary aim of educating the students about the nature, consequences and preventive measures related to sexual harassment in various settings, particularly at the workplace, Educational Institutions and Social daily life. The session emphasized on the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment and also provided valuable insights into the definition and types of Sexual Harassment, citing real life cases and legal frameworks.

Students were able to get insights on the various Laws Prevailing to Sexual Harassment and gained knowledge on what constitutes Sexual Harassment and its various forms. Students also became familiar with the laws and policies such as POSH and POCSO Act.

Protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and IP Management for Startups

Workshop on “Protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and IP Management for Startups” was organized by the IQAC, Institution’s Innovation Council and Entrepreneurship Cell for MBA students.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Harish Kumar P, Practicing Advocate, Principal, Aditya College of Law.

Highlights of the Session::

  1. The resource person elaborated on the legal framework governing IPRs in India, covering essential laws such as the Patents Act, 1970; Trademarks Act, 1999; Copyright Act, 1957; Design Act, 2000; The Geographical Indications Act, 1999; The Semiconductor Integrated Circuits Layout- Design Act, 2000 and other relevant legislation and provided insights into various aspects of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  2. Attendees also gained practical knowledge of patent filing procedures and trademark registration, crucial for startups looking to establish their brand identity. The session included discussions on real-life case studies with special focus on implications to startups that highlighted the importance of securing intellectual property and the consequences of violation of law.
  3. The resource person emphasized the role of intellectual property in fostering innovation and economic growth, urging participants to integrate IP management into their business strategies.

An industrial visit to KOMUL Kolar Diary Industry

Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd., (KOMUL) is Karnataka’s Milk Producing District organisation. It is a District level apex body of milk cooperatives in Karnataka, which aims to provide remunerative returns to the farmers by eliminating the middlemen and also serve the interest of consumers by providing quality Milk & milk products, which are good value for money.

The trip was organized for the degree students of Bcom, BBA and BBA Aviation of 4th Semester (2nd year) to explore different sectors in which students are passionate about it. Manufacturing services, marketing sector, financial sector, sales division, the visit helps the students to add theoretical knowledge with practical exposure.

1) The resource person emphasised the role of Central and State governments in Startup Ecosystem through various statistics.
2) He has provided valuable insights on various fund-raising strategies for Startups such as Bootstrapping, Government grants, Angel investors, Venture capital, Crowd funding etc.
