Workshop on “Protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and IP Management for Startups” was organized by the IQAC, Institution’s Innovation Council and Entrepreneurship Cell for MBA students.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Harish Kumar P, Practicing Advocate, Principal, Aditya College of Law.

Highlights of the Session::

  1. The resource person elaborated on the legal framework governing IPRs in India, covering essential laws such as the Patents Act, 1970; Trademarks Act, 1999; Copyright Act, 1957; Design Act, 2000; The Geographical Indications Act, 1999; The Semiconductor Integrated Circuits Layout- Design Act, 2000 and other relevant legislation and provided insights into various aspects of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  2. Attendees also gained practical knowledge of patent filing procedures and trademark registration, crucial for startups looking to establish their brand identity. The session included discussions on real-life case studies with special focus on implications to startups that highlighted the importance of securing intellectual property and the consequences of violation of law.
  3. The resource person emphasized the role of intellectual property in fostering innovation and economic growth, urging participants to integrate IP management into their business strategies.

The workshop successfully enhanced participants’ understanding of IPRs and their significance in safeguarding business innovations. The interactive session allowed attendees to clarify doubts and explore legal strategies for intellectual property management.
